Amsterdam North
Amsterdam-Noord used to be an area where heavy industry was concentrated, but nowadays artists and young people have inhabited the area, making it the perfect mix of the urban and the creative. The area is full of things to see and do. We especially like to take a beer in the sun at Pllek, or visit Hotel de Goudfazant for a good meal, but there are many more things to explore. You can take a free ferry here from Amsterdam Central Station.

Naarden Fortress
Naarden-Vesting is the “old town” of the larger town of Naarden and lies within a star-shaped fort. You can walk along the top of some of the fortified walls, but you really need a drone to see the star structure from above. On this website you can read more about things to explore within Naarden-Vesting.

Utrecht
Utrecht lies at the center of The Netherlands and is just 25 minutes by train from Amsterdam. With its canals and cafés it looks and feels like a smaller, less crowded version of Amsterdam. On a day trip to Utrecht you can explore the scenic city center, take in the view from the tallest church tower in the Netherlands, and dine at one of the many restaurants by the canal. This website lists top 13 things to do and see in Utrecht

Haarlem
Haarlem is a charming, medieval city just 20 minutes west of Amsterdam. It offers a lively cultural scene, a great atmosphere, excellent shopping and dining. The Jopenkerk is definitely worth visiting, it’s a former church which has been transformed into a modern city brewery, grand café and restaurant. See this website for other attractions in Haarlem.

Zandvoort
Do you want to get away from the city activities listed above, to get a breath of fresh air on the beach, swim in the sea or have a drink at a beach club? From Haarlem you can be on the beaches of Zandvoort within fifteen minutes by train.
