Transportation

Muiden is Tove’s hometown and is situated just 15 km (10 miles) from the center of Amsterdam. It’s a small town which lies at the mouth of the Vecht, a branch of the river Rhine. It’s a popular tourist destination thanks in part to the Muiden Castle (recently marketed as Amsterdam Castle) and the old fortifications in the area, such as the island Pampus.

Public transport
You can get to Muiden by public transport in a few different ways:

  • Take a train to Amsterdam Amstel. From this station there are several busses (320, 322 and 327) that go to Muiden P+R (“Park and Ride”) at the outskirts of Muiden. The walk is about 1,5 km (1 mile) to central Muiden. It is also possible to take bus 110, it goes once every hour, get off at “Brandweerkazerne Muiden”.
  • Take a train to Weesp. From here you can take bus 110, get off at stop “Brandweerkazerne Muiden”.

You can plan your travels for all public transport with: 9292 (best for busses) or NS (best for trains). If you are staying in the area for a few days, it is probably smart to buy an Amsterdam & Region Travel Ticket.

Car
It’s easy to reach Muiden by car, however most parking in the town center is reserved for people with parking permits. Just outside the center are two free parking lots. For those who nonetheless would like to park as close by the gathering spot as possible, there is paid parking.

Taxi
After midnight the public transportation options are very limited. Therefore you might have to book a taxi or Uber to get back to where you are staying. Here are some contact details for taxi companies in the area:
